#Special k patch for securityspy mods
But don't be afraid of his mods causing you or your system any issues. So, disagree with his approach if you wish.

#Special k patch for securityspy code
There is no surreptitious malicious code anywhere in any of it. His mods are all open source, the code in everything he does is available for all to see. That is his prerogative and, imo, a principled position to take.Īnd if that happens? Guess what? You can simply safely remove his mods, and play your game using whatever methods are available to you. The worst thing anyone could say about them is that if a game is ever officially end of life and no longer receives support and DRM exists in it, he won't allow his mods to be used to circumvent anti-tampering measures, because, again, lhe refuses to help facilitate piracy. But 99.9% of his actions are a net benefit to various communities, and his mods are most assuredly not malware. I may not even personally totally agree with it, but then I'm a bit of an outlier in terms of my patience with people - so I'm the weird one there probably lol. Now, that blacklist functionality can be debated as to its ethics and whether one totally agrees with it or not. He has never used it simply to "punish" people he disagrees with, or even dislikes. Moreover, he has only ever added two people to this supposed "Blacklist." And that was done because they were directly disrupting his efforts to help users. Only his mods - not the games - if it were the games themselves even with his mods uninstalled, then that would be an issue. it is true that there is an ability in (some of) his mods to utilize SteamIDs to "blacklist" people from using his mods. (One of the false examples they used to try to make this case, was a line of code intended to prevent crashes in a game.

So much so, that they have in the past managed to somehow use his anti-piracy measures (which amount to little more than him ensuring people can't use his mods to circumvent other anti-piracy measures) in certain mods to make him out to be injecting malware into said mods. Kaldaien is anti-piracy, or at least, refuses to help facilitate piracy. Just a word on the whole "Kaldaien's mods are malware" claims, because I don't want people to see that and then get scared away from using his mods, which have a long history of being incredibly helpful.
